The killing of the Mind by Andreas Mujica is a thoughtful and painful tragedy oil painting depicting the suffering of public humiliation and a cruel imprisonment of Oscar Wilde

"The Kelling of the Mind"

Medium:  Oil on Canvas  18  In.  x  24  In.

Dedicated to Oscar Wilde, a wonderful human being who was cruelly besmirched and punished because he dared to fearlessly express his sexuality, confronting the norms of a hypocritical “conservative society” that hid, denied and ignored its inward homosexuality.

Since then, the attitude of society has not evolved and is even more sinister. Sectarian manipulators shamefully get the complicity of religion to attack minority groups, regardless of destroying for many, the purity of the belief in God. Hateful evildoers that barefacedly presume they are God's emissaries on earth, publicly remind us that according to the “scriptures” the members of the LGBTQ community shall be stoned to death and that is the perfect law of God. Can God be a horrendous criminal, or are the authors of the “scriptures” the villains?

Oscar Wilde was a literary genius who's wit, charm, and intellect captivated an entire society that was enchanted by his fascinating personality, elegance and eccentricity.

However, a dogmatic society adamantly and cruelly condemned his gay persona.

Society is entirely composed now of beautiful idiots and brilliant lunatics. Just what society should be.” - Oscar Wilde

He was a dreamer, an art lover and a luxury icon of high society of his time. But his life was cut short, depriving the world of beautiful literary masterpieces.

His reputation, his family life and brilliant career succumbed to public humiliation and a cruel imprisonment as a consequence of the scandalous entanglement with the spoiled son of the Marquess of Queensberry, who never faced prison time for the same “crime”.

Oscar Wilde's extraordinary life ended prematurely because of injustice.

Now and always we, the majority of respectable people, should not be silent and we must confront the immoral manipulators.
